Summer Classes
Language Immersion Camp Weekend
NOTE: All learners must be enrolled, or a household member of an enrolled, citizen of: Assonet Wampanoag; Aquinnah Wampanoag; Herring Pond Wampanoag; or Mashpee Wampanoag
What:
Join us for a weekend of full language immersion, where participants of all ages will engage in cultural activities entirely in Wôpanâak. This unique camp experience strengthens language skills in a supportive, community-centered environment.
When:
*Saturday, July 19, 2025 — 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Orientation in English: 8:00–9:00 AM)
Sunday, July 20, 2025 — 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (Language Committee meeting is 1pm-3pm)
*Overnight camping on Saturday is optional; details will be sent after registration is complete.

Beginner Workbook in a Day
NOTE: All learners must be enrolled, or a household member of an enrolled, citizen of: Assonet Wampanoag; Aquinnah Wampanoag; Herring Pond Wampanoag; or Mashpee Wampanoag
What:
A one-day intensive of WLRP's beginner workbook, providing new learners or those who want a refresher, the foundations of Wôpanâak. This class is fast paced and will be completed in one day. If you prefer a different pace, please register for a standard paced Beginner's class.
When:
Saturday September 27th, 2025; 9:30- 5PM EST

Kun8seeh Class

What:
A 5-week remote immersion course designed to provide students with immersive daily routine language. No experience necessary!
When:
Wednesdays July 16th, July 23rd, July 30th, August 6th, August 13th; 7:00- 8:30PM EST
Where:
Meeting via Zoom. Zoom, link provided upon registration.

Spring Wôpanâak Speaker Classes
NOTE: All learners must be enrolled, or a household member of an enrolled, citizen of: Assonet Wampanoag; Aquinnah Wampanoag; Herring Pond Wampanoag; or Mashpee Wampanoag
What:
This is a fun speaking class for those who are brand new to immersion learning. Immersion means we learn to speak by using our Wôpanâak through a variety of activities and games.
When:
Mondays at 6:00- 7:00 PM EST beginning on May 5th and concluding on June 23rd.
Where:
Meeting in-person at: Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe, 128 Herring Pond Road, Plymouth, MA 02360.
Prerequisite:
There is no prerequisite for this class and any level learner is welcomed!*

Wôpanâôt8âtôh! Let’s Speak Wampanoag
NOTE: This immersion class is exclusively for Indian Ed students from grades 7-12 who are part of a Wampanoag household or one of the four communities: Assonet, Aquinnah, Herring Pond, or Mashpee. All learners must be enrolled citizens or household members of an enrolled citizen from these communities.
What:
Indian Education is partnering with WLRP and offering a ‘Wôp only, no English’ language class.
When:
Every Friday morning at 10:15AM starting on November 15th, 2024.
Where:
Meeting at: Indian Education Room, Mashpee Middle-High School, 500 Old Barnstable Rd, Mashpee, MA
Prerequisite:
There is no prerequisite for this class.

Elders Wôpanâak Beginner Workbook Class

What:
This is a workbook class is for those who are new to learning about the language or those who want a workbook brush-up.
When:
Tuesdays at 11:00 AM-noon
On a rolling basis as part of the Elder’s Lunch and Learn Program.

Meeting at: In-Person at: MW Tribe Community and Gov. Center, 483 Great Neck Road S., Mashpee, MA

There is no prerequisite for this class.

What:
This is a workbook class for those who want to learn how nouns are possessed in the Language.
When:
Thursdays at 11:00 AM-noon
On a rolling basis as part of the Elder’s Lunch and Learn Program.
