Immersion Day and Teacher Certification

What: Teacher Certification. Get certified to become a community language teacher or rectify if you are already a teacher. (Certifications will be offered again in April and June)
When: 10am-12pm
What: Immersion Day with interactive language learning, games, and food
When 12:00-2:30pm
Where: All events will be held at the WLRP Office, 2C Center Street; Mashpee, MA 02649

Eligibility: Mashpee, Aquinnah, Assonet & Herring Pond enrolled tribal members and/or members of their household (tribal and non-tribal).
Wôpanâak Nest One
What: This is a class for those who are brand new to immersion learning. Immersion means we learn to speak by using our Wôpanâak Language exclusively through a variety of activities. This is a Nest which means that the same learners will meet together weekly for an extended period.
When: Thursdays at 7:00-8:00PM
Beginning on October 13th and continuing through to Spring.
Where: Meeting at: 2C Center Street Language Space Mashpee MA
Prerequisite:There is no prerequisite for this class.

Wôpanâak Noun Possession
What: This is a workbook class is for those who want to learn how nouns are possessed in the Language.
When: Thursdays at 6:00-6:45PM
Beginning on January 12th and finishing on March 2nd
Where: Meeting at: 2C Center Street Language Space Mashpee MA
Prerequisite: Beginner workbook is a prerequisite for this class.

Beginner Workbook Class - REMOTE
What: Learn the Basics of the Wôpanâak alphabet, pronunciation, greetings, basic grammar, and vocabulary. This 10-week course will be offered over 5 weeks. This is a good course for anyone wanting to brush up on their basic skills or for those wanting something new and don't know where to start.
When: Mondays and Tuesdays 7:30-8:30pm, beginning March 6 through April 4
Where: Zoom, link provided after approved registration
Eligibility Requirements: Mashpee, Aquinnah, Assonet & Herring Pond enrolled tribal members and/or members of their households (tribal and non-tribal). All students must sign and adhere to the student agreement prior to being able to participate in class.
